Privacy notice
What this site collects, why, and how to opt out. In short: anonymous visit statistics, your email if you subscribe, and a short-lived hashed identifier to stop download abuse. Nothing is sold.
Who runs this site
Rocky Shore (rockyshore.in) is the personal website of Kishore Rajaram, based in Chennai, India. It’s a personal blog, not a business service. For any privacy question or request, message me on LinkedIn.
Google Analytics
I use Google Analytics 4 to understand which notes people read and where they come from. It collects:
- Pages viewed, time on page, and which links and downloads are clicked
- The site that referred you, such as Google or LinkedIn
- Device type, browser, screen size, language, and approximate location at city level
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_TWSEGL7RFG, which last up to two years and let it tell a returning visitor from a new one. Google says Google Analytics 4 doesn’t log or store IP addresses. I don’t use Google Analytics advertising features, and I can’t see who you are.
The data is processed by Google under its own privacy policy and may be stored outside India. Event-level data is kept for no more than 14 months.
How to opt out
- Install Google’s Google Analytics opt-out add-on
- Block or delete cookies for rockyshore.in in your browser settings
- Use a content blocker or a browser that blocks analytics
The site works the same either way.
Newsletter sign-ups
If you subscribe, I store your email address and the time you signed up, on this site’s web hosting. I use it only to send Rocky Shore notes. I don’t share or sell it. Every email will include a way to unsubscribe, and you can ask me to delete your address at any time.
Downloads and spam protection
To stop automated abuse of downloads and the sign-up form, the server keeps a one-way hash of your connection’s address with the times of recent requests. The raw address isn’t stored, and the hash can’t be reversed. These records are deleted automatically, usually within two days. I also keep daily totals, such as how many times the deck was downloaded, with nothing that identifies anyone.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Hostinger. Like any web host, it may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, time and page requested, for security and operations, under its own privacy policy.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask to see, correct or erase personal data I hold about you, and withdraw your consent at any time. Send the request on LinkedIn and I’ll respond as soon as I can.
Changes
If this notice changes, I’ll update the date at the top of the page.
